We’re well into May already – and Summer’s just around
the corner!
This month, I’d like to share with you
a conversation I had recently at a networking event. A
gentleman was telling me how worried he was that he’d noticed
a real decline in new enquiries over the past couple of
months. When we got down to it, it transpired he was really
busy in the Autumn and was confident this would continue well
into the new year. Unfortunately this didn’t happen and his
business was really suffering.
The moral of this tale?
Marketing for any business has to be an ongoing process, it’s
no good pulling your marketing when things are going well and
hoping to pick it up in desperation when it all goes quiet.
You’ll simply be starting afresh and this takes time, effort
and of course increased costs.
So this month I’ve put
together 8 ways in which you can quickly step up your
marketing efforts – which I hope will be of interest.
Eight Quick Ways to
Step Up Your Marketing Here are 8
simple-to-execute marketing ideas that you can introduce to
your business that may just make a
difference:
1. Play Your Cards
Right Loyalty cards are a great way to reward customers
for their loyalty and increases purchase frequency. When they
buy your product a set number of times, give them the next
item free – it’s a great way to say thanks and keep them
coming back.
2. Keep Up-to-Date Generally
speaking, websites that are frequently updated, and have new
content added regularly perform better in the leading search
engines. Keep adding new pages with fresh content – a new page
added to your site each week will amaze you with the extra
traffic that comes your way.
3. Networking
Works Wherever potential customers or referrers meet –
make sure you’re there. Good networking is about farming
contacts over time - not hunting out deals – so don’t expect
results straight away, by working hard and being seen you will
reap the rewards.
4. Competition
Time Competitions are a great way to raise awareness in
your products or services. Invite customers to take part and
make sure you promote it. It doesn’t have to be an expensive
prize, you could even award your own products or services to
the winners.
5. Referrals If your customers
and suppliers are happy with the service you offer, ask them
to refer you to others. Then thank them for doing it – it’s a
lovely touch to send a voucher as a thank you for referring
you – and they’ll be more likely to do it again.
6.
Cross Promotion What else could your customers buy from
you? Do they know about everything you offer? After they have
bought from you once, they are already in a relationship with
you and are more likely to purchase again.
7. Free
Publicity A marketing essential – a press release with
an eye-catching story could get you valuable free publicity
which will in turn boost your reputation and generate new
leads.
8. Beat Your Rivals Analyse the
competition and identify what you think your customers demand
but nobody else delivers. Yes, they may be hard to execute,
but it’ll be worthwhile. By talking to your customers you’ll
find out what they really want.

Spotlight Amongst the many sites we’ve been
working on, we’ve just relaunched the Lancashire High Flyers
website. High Flyers are bi-monthly networking events that
bring business owners, local business people and entrepreneurs
together from a wide range of industries and professions
across Lancashire.
We gave the site a stylish
refresh and as a result visitor numbers have increased by over
100% and visitors are staying much longer. It’s been well
optimised for search engines too – try searching for
“Networking Events Lancashire” to see for yourself.
We
also handle their email marketing campaigns and help manage
the events. Incidentally, the next event is on
Wednesday 20th May at Stanley House, Mellor, Blackburn and
features guest speakers Adam Hosker from The Apprentice and
Dennis Taylor – the Chief Executive of the Lancashire Economic
Partnership. Click here for more details of this
event.
